Isn’t this kind of “But I’m not...” statement exactly what resolutions are about defeating? I suggest you reconsider adding this to your list of resolutions. The only way to become a better writer is to do more of the thing, ideally in a context that matters to you, and where getting better is aligned with a better version of yourself that you intend to become.
You already write clearly enough, and that is the majority of good writing. You also have your own voice. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Becoming a better writer isn’t about writing novels. It’s about communicating clearly and expressing yourself succinctly. You’re well on your way to be being a better writer; don’t cut yourself short!
